The Houston area is home to exceptional golf courses, but none are finer than the Cougar Golf program's home course, Golf Club of Houston.
Home to the PGA Tour's Shell Houston Open and located in nearby Humble, Golf Club of Houston is situated on more than 900 scenic acres and includes two championship caliber courses. The Member Course, designed by the renowned Jim Hardy and Peter Jacobson, prepares Cougar student-athletes for the nation's top collegiate tournaments with challenging play and comfortable amenities.
When competing on the Tournament Course, current home of the Shell Houston Open, the Cougars must overcome numerous challenges on the par-72, 7,457-yard course designed by Rees Jones and David Toms. The course features wetlands filled with native plants and flowers and is lush with oak, pine and cypress trees.
As the student-athletes learn to handle Golf Club of Houston, they become prepared for any collegiate course on which they will compete throughout the season.
The Tournament Course is open to the public, making it one of only 11 public courses across the country that hosts a PGA Tour event.
Practice facilities feature a 31,000-square foot teeing areas and two large practice putting greens. It also challenges competitors with a pair of 6,000-square foot chipping greens with bunkers.
Once practice is finished, Cougar student-athletes and coaches take advantage of a comfortable locker room inside the 33,000-square foot clubhouse
