BASEBALL
Last Week
Houston Baseball went 3-2. After falling to Houston Baptist, the Cougars defeated McNeese on Wednesday and took two of three from San Diego over the weekend to move to 8-7 on the season.

Against HBU, senior reliever Joey Pulido took over in the third and went a career-long 6.2 innings, surrendering no runs on four hits with one walk with a career-high eight strikeouts … Against McNeese, Houston tallied a season-high 17 hits … All nine starters had a hit, while eight had an RBI … Freshman Hunter Edwards threw two shutout innings in relief to earn his first career win … On Friday against San Diego, Grayson Padgett belted a 12th-inning, walk-off home run in his first game back after missing time due to a death in the family … On Saturday, junior starter Aaron Fletcher improved to 3-0 on the year, tossing six innings without allowing an earned run.


MEN'S BASKETBALL
Last Week
No. 21 Houston Men’s Basketball advanced to the title game of the American Athletic Conference Championship with wins over UCF and Wichita State before falling to Cincinnati to move to 26-7 on the season.

Prior to the tournament, Kelvin Sampson was named the American Athletic Conference’s Coach of the Year … Against UCF, Galen Robinson Jr. scored 18 points and Rob Gray had 17 points, six assists and five rebounds, as Devin Davis (16), Corey Davis Jr. (10) and Armoni Brooks (10) all finished in double figures … Against Wichita State, Gray poured in 33 points and Devin Davis finished with 19 to propel the Cougars to their first appearance in the title game of The American Championship … Against Cincinnati, Gray (17), Corey Davis Jr. (15) and Devin Davis (13) all finished in double figures … For the 20th time in school history and the first time since 2010, Houston will compete in the NCAA Tournament … The Cougars will compete as the No. 6 seed in the NCAA West Region and face No. 11 seed San Diego State on Thursday inside Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kan. … The two will square off at 6:20 p.m. CT on Thursday, March 15, on TBS … For Houston’s NCAA Tournament Central, click here … The 2017-18 is the sixth in school history to enjoy 26+ wins in a single season.


MEN'S GOLF

Houston Men’s Golf senior Michael Perras led the team in both the Querencia Cabo Collegiate and Border Olympics last week, as the Cougars finished 14th and tied for seventh.

Houston Softball went 2-3, shutting out Texas Southern on Wednesday before going 1-3 in the Houston Hilton Plaza Classic to move to 14-7 on the season.

At TSU, junior Savannah Heebner tossed a one-hitter, carrying a perfect game through five and two-third innings and striking out a career-high 12 … On Saturday against Northwestern, junior left fielder Kaylin Crumpton and sophomore third baseman Sarah Queen hit back-to-back home runs, the first time the Cougars have accomplished the feat since teammates Mariah Garcia and Arielle James did so against Texas Southern on March 11, 2017 … Queen, who hit two homers in the game, recorded the first multi-home run performance for the Cougars since Heebner hit two against UConn on April 9, 2017 … On Sunday against Penn State, Heebner tossed another one-hitter, carrying a perfect game through five and two-third innings.

At the NCAA Indoor Championships, sprinter Elijah Hall won the 60- and 200-meter dash titles … Hall won the 60 in 6.52 and the 200 in 20.02 … Hall’s 60 time is the second-best in program history, while his 200 time ranks as the second-fastest indoor 200-meter time in world history … Hall's 200 time broke the American Indoor Record as well as the Collegiate Record and the NCAA Championship Record … Hall became just the fourth sprinter in NCAA history to win both the 60- and 200-meter dash championships in the same season and was Houston's first multi-event National Champion in the same meet since Carl Lewis won the 55-meter dash and long jump championships at the 1981 meet … With his performances, Hall earned NCAA First-Team All-American honors in each of the 60 and 200 … He is Houston's ninth All-American in the 60, while he becomes the second Cougar to claim the honor in the indoor 200 … Junior Kahmari Montgomery also picked up First-Team All-America honors with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 45.24, breaking his own school record … Montgomery's First Team All-America honor is the third all-time for the Cougars in the event and first since 2013 … Sophomore Nathaniel Mechler made Houston history by becoming the first All-American in program history in the heptathlon … Mechler finished the seven-event competition with a school-record 5,758 points to place eighth … The eighth-place finish earned Mechler First-Team All-American honors … On tired legs, Hall and Montgomery teamed with Amere Lattin and Mario Burke to run 3:08.86 and finish 13th in the 4x400-meter relay to cap the championship meet … The squad earned Second-Team All-American honors for the performance, Houston's fourth such honor in the event all time … The Cougars combined to score 26 points at the 2018 NCAA Championships, the most in program history … The seventh-place team finish overall is Houston's 10th top-10 finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships and marks their highest finish since placing seventh at the 1982 Championships, where they scored 22 points.


VOLLEYBALL
Notes
Houston Volleyball announced four dates as part of its spring schedule … The Cougars opened their slate at Rice last week and will continue with a match at Baylor on March 24 and tournament at Texas State on April 7, before traveling crosstown to F.A.S.T. Complex for a tournament on April 14.
