Houston sophomore safety Deontay Anderson, a transfer from Ole Miss, was ruled eligible to play in 2018 by the NCAA. The Manvel, Texas, native will have three years of eligibility remaining and will be allowed to hit the field this fall after joining the Houston program in January.

The Cougars finished 11th as a team with a 26-over 890, as junior Leonie Harm won on the seventh hole of a playoff to advance to the NCAA Championships … With the top-3 individuals not on a qualifying team earning a place at the NCAA Championships, Harm joined Michigan State’s Sarah Burnham and BYU’s Rose Huang in a playoff for the final two spots … The three players each made par on the first four playoff holes before Huang drained a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole to earn the second position … After Harm and Burnham each made par on No. 6, Harm parred No. 7 to earn her second appearance at the NCAA Championships, set for May 18-23 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla … She became the first Cougar to compete at the NCAA Championships in 2016 after qualifying out of the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional.
Houston Softball went 1-1 at the American Athletic Conference Championship to move to 36-20 overall, and on Sunday night, the Cougars were tabbed the No. 3 seed in the Baton Regional, hosted by No. 11 national seed LSU.

Prior to the tournament, junior Savannah Heebner was named the American Athletic Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year, as five members of the Houston Softball team garnered postseason honors … Voted on by the league's head coaches based off conference-only statistics, Heebner and sophomore third baseman Sarah Queen were named to The American First Team … Sophomore second baseman Arielle James and junior right fielder Maya Thomas were named to the second team, and freshman designated player Aspen Howie was named to the All-Rookie Team … In addition, the Cougars garnered The American Team Academic Award with a 3.42 cumulative GPA … The award is Houston's second straight and third overall since the inception of The American … At The American Championship, the No. 2 seeded Cougars defeated No. 7 seed ECU, 3-1, on Thursday, before falling to eventual champion Tulsa, 7-3 on Friday … At the conclusion of the tournament, James and freshman designated player Tierra Williams were named to the All-Tournament Team … On Sunday night, the Cougars earned their eighth NCAA postseason berth in program history and first since 2014.

Houston Track & Field swept the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships.
The Houston men scored 172 points en route to claiming their conference crown, while the women took their championship with 113 points … For the men, the title is the 16th conference championship in program history and the 11th under Head Coach Leroy Burrell … The championship gives the Houston men three-straight outdoor championships in The American, which marks the third time in program history the team has won at least three consecutive (1997-2000 and 2009-12) conference titles … The Houston men swept the indoor and outdoor titles for the third consecutive season and the 11th time in program history … For the women, The American Championship is the first since joining the league and the first overall since 2006 … The Houston women have now won nine outdoor conference championships in school history, including six under Burrell … With the sweep of the men’s and women’s titles, Houston becomes the first program in The American to sweep each of the titles in the same year, and it is the first time Houston has accomplished the conference feat since the 2005 season … The Houston coaching staff won Staff of the Year for both the men and women … Brianne Bethel won Most Valuable Outdoor Performance for the women … For complete results, click here.
