HOUSTON - Jeff Collier has joined the University of Houston Department of Intercollegiate Athletics as associate athletics director for business and finance, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Mack Rhoades announced Thursday.
In that role, Collier will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Business and Finance unit of the Athletics Department.
"We are happy to welcome Jeff and Angie into the Houston Athletics family," Rhoades said. "We look forward to the fresh perspective he will bring into the Business and Finance unit and into our Department as we continue to improve in all areas of our operation."
Collier comes to Houston after serving for the past five years at Colorado State as assistant athletics director for business operations. There, he managed, developed and oversaw the operating budget. He served as the primary contact for coaches and staff in purchasing and travel initiatives and assisted all department employees in managing their budgets.
Collier also worked as the liaison between athletics and the University's various financial and technology departments.
Prior to Colorado State, Collier worked for six years in a support role in the Athletics Business Office at Baylor, his alma mater. He served as the Bears' athletics business manager from 2004 to 2007 and was director of accounting from 2001 to 2004.
Collier also worked for nearly three years as a senior auditor in the Dallas office of Arthur Andersen, LLP, from 1998 to 2001.
He graduated from Baylor in 1998 with a dual bachelor's degree and master's in business administration in accounting.
Born in Dallas, Collier graduated from Richardson Berkner High in 1993.
In the summer of 2011, he married the former Angie Hopkins, who serves as head coach of the Colorado State women's golf program. The couple is expecting their first child at the end of August.
