HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Department of Athletics and the Jack J. Valenti School of Communications announced Wednesday a partnership that will give UH students valuable career experience in the production of Houston Athletics coaches shows on ROOT SPORTS.

Beginning this fall, Houston Football Central tapings will take place in the Valenti School’s Funston Communications Center studios and production facilities with Valenti students holding several production roles under the leadership of Valenti School Director Temple Northup and UH Athletics’ Director for Video Production Mike Freedman.
Hosted by Kevin Eschenfelder, the twelve episodes of Houston Football Central will air on ROOT SPORTS Southwest beginning Thursday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. Eschenfelder will be joined in studio each week by Houston Head Coach Tom Herman and other guests from the Houston Football program looking back at the previous week’s game and previewing Houston’s upcoming contests.
Following the fall semester, Valenti students will have the opportunity to produce the Houston Basketball Central show beginning in January as Houston Men’s Basketball Head Coach Kelvin Sampson and guests join Eschenfelder in studio to discuss recent games and look ahead to upcoming games.
Houston fans can find ROOT SPORTS Southwest on AT&T U-verse channels 758 in SD and 1758 in HD, on DIRECTV channel 674 and on Comcast channels 39 in SD and 639 in HD. The new network's programming schedule is available at rootsports.com.
