Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium

The University of Houston Swimming & Diving program enjoys one of the nation's finest facilities at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium.

Opened in the spring of 2003, the Natatorium played host to the Cougars' first dual meet against North Texas on Oct. 11, 2003. In only a short time, the facility has been host to several prestigious events, including the 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Conference USA Women's Championship and Invitational, the 2004 NCAA Zone D Diving Championship and the 2007 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Championships.

The Cougars also played host to some of the nation's top collegiate divers at the 2008 NCAA Zone D meet.

The facility covers more than 264,000 square feet with the natatorium being only a small part of the building. At 70 meters by 25 yards, the pool ranks among longest in the state of Texas. It holds more than 1.3 million gallons of water, shallowing out to four feet and increasing to 17 feet at the deep end.

Three bulkheads allow the pool to be shaped into different configurations as needed.

Cougar divers also are well taken care of in the new facility. The Natatorium features a divers' whirlpool in which competitors can stay warm between dives during meets. In addition to two 1-meter and two 3-meter springboards, the facility features five platform diving boards at 1-, 3-, 5-, 7.5, and 10-meter heights.

However, the overall facility features 24,000 square feet of weight equipment, four-lane indoor jogging track, a 53-foot indoor climbing wall and six multi-purpose aerobic rooms.

The facility is open to all UH students.
