HOUSTON - As the University of Houston Department of Intercollegiate Athletics prepares to honor some of its biggest names, fans are invited to purchase tickets for A Night with the Stars Hall of Honor Gala.

Five former student-athletes, one former coach and one team will receive the Athletics Department's highest honor with their induction into the Hall of Honor. The special event begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9 at the Bayou City Event Center (9401 Knight Rd.).

Golfer Jacky Cupit, football running back Paul Gipson, volleyball star Rose Magers-Powell, baseball pitcher Brad Sullivan, defensive coordinator Don Todd, women's track and field sprinter Jackie Washington and the 1976 Football team comprise the 2012 class.

Prior to the induction ceremonies, attendees will enjoy a silent and a live auction and big board. Dancing with music will be provided by Radio London.

Houston Golf legend and former NCAA individual national champion Billy Ray Brown will serve as master of ceremonies at this event.

Net proceeds benefit student-athlete scholarships through Cougar Pride, the fundraising arm of the Athletics Department. Student-athlete scholarships account for more than $5.3 million during the 2012-13 academic year. By purchasing a ticket or reserving a table, fans impact the lives of nearly 400 student-athletes that represent the University of Houston.

This marks the 19th class into the Hall of Honor and the eighth since the Hall was reintroduced in 1998. The current class will bring the membership to 94 individuals and two teams. Inductees are honored in a display located inside the Houston Athletics/Alumni Center.

TICKETS
Individual tickets can be purchased at $200 each, while tables for 10 are available, beginning at $3,000. Reservations must be made by Friday, Nov. 2 to guarantee seating. Seating will be determined in the order of reservation date.

To purchase tickets or for more information, fans should call Cougar Pride at 713-743-4684 or email cougarpride@uh.edu.
