Amanda Barbee Helms enters her first year as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Houston, where her primary team coverage is with the women's basketball team. Amanda also oversees the women's soccer and swimming and diving teams. In addition to her other duties, Amanda recruits the undergraduate athletic training students.
During her graduate assistantship at University of Houston, Amanda spent two years working for the Women's Soccer team while she earned her Master's Degree in Sports and Fitness Administration in December 2011.
A New Orleans native, Barbee graduated from LSU with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Athletic Training. As an undergraduate for the Tigers, she worked with LSU's 2007 National Champion Football team, nationally ranked women's basketball team, and the 2009 SEC champion women's volleyball team. Prior to attending LSU, Barbee was a student-athlete at Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi, where she played basketball for two years.
