Darron Pinkney joined the University of Houston Department of Intercollegiate Athletics as its director of men's basketball marketing and promotions. In that role, he will oversee all marketing and promotion efforts for the men's basketball program through a variety of social media and multimedia platforms.
Pinkney came to Houston after spending the previous eight years at Nevada in a pair of roles. Most recently, he worked as assistant director of media services from 2011-2014. He served as the primary media contact for Women's Basketball, Women's Soccer, Track and Field, Cross Country and rifle.
Prior to joining the Media Services Office, he worked for four years (2007-11) as assistant director of marketing and promotions. There, he coordinated all marketing efforts for Women's Basketball, Women's Volleyball, Women's Soccer, Softball and Baseball.
He assisted in the creation of Nevada's Facebook page and recruited, supervised and provided direction for the Blue Crew, the school's official student spirit group and its Executive Board. In addition, he directed and faciliated the Pup Club, the Wolf Pack's youth support group.
Pinkney received his bachelor's degree in business and public administration with a marketing concentration from Cal State Bernardino in 2006. From there, he joined the Nevada staff in the fall of 2006 as a marketing assistant, working with Women's Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Baseball and Soccer.
He received his master's degree in educational leadership from Nevada in 2012.
