Kevin Fite is in his seventh year as the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Eligibility at the University of Houston. In his role at UH, Fite oversees all aspects of the athletics department's compliance efforts including the review of all eligibility-related matters for 16 varsity sports and approximately 420 student-athletes. He serves as a liaison between the NCAA and Conference USA offices regarding all compliance matters and coordinates the institution's rules education efforts for all athletics department coaches and staff. Fite also serves on the Conference USA Legislative Review Committee, monitoring proposed legislation within the NCAA governance structure. Fite came to Houston after spending over six years at the NCAA headquarters-first in Overland Park, Kansas, and then in Indianapolis, Ind.. He spent the first four years as a Student-Athlete Reinstatement Representative and later became an Enforcement Representative. A 1986 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor's degree in history education, Fite later earned his master's degree in higher education from Iowa State University in 1991. He began his collegiate professional career at Iowa State and later worked at Oklahoma State. A native of Ottumwa, Iowa, Fite and his wife, Robbie, have two children: son, Billy, and daughter, Sarah. |
