    Athletics Communications Receives Three CoSIDA Awards Communications

    Department receives two `Best in the Nation' awards.

    Jeff Conrad joined the University of Houston Athletics Communications Office in September 2001 and was moved to director in February 2008. In this role, he serves as the primary contact for men's basketball and men's and women's golf while assisting with football.

    Before being promoted to his current position, Conrad worked as an assistant SID for six years at UH. During that time, he worked with the baseball and swimming and diving teams, serving as the media coordinator for the Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships for five years.

    Prior to joining UH, Conrad served three years at Louisiana-Lafayette, the last two as the SID. During his time with the Cajuns, he oversaw the publicity efforts of all 16 intercollegiate sports and was the primary contact for football, men's basketball and baseball.

    During the 1999-00 season, he coordinated media relations for the Cajun men's basketball team that won the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and competed in the NCAA Tournament and the Cajun baseball team that advanced to the NCAA College World Series for the first time in school history.

    After graduating from college, Conrad worked as a graduate assistant at Louisiana-Lafayette during the 1995-96 year and was a metro reporter with the Alexandria Daily Town Talk in Alexandria, La., for two years.

    A native of Shreveport, La., he received his bachelor's degree in liberal arts with an emphasis in communications from Centenary College in 1995. As an undergraduate, he worked for more than two years in the Sports Information Office, serving as the primary contact for baseball, men's and women's soccer and softball while helping with men's basketball.

    He is married to the former Kristy Risner, a 1995 Academic All-American in softball and 2005 inductee into the Centenary Athletics Hall of Fame. They have two sons, Tyler and Nathan, and live in Montgomery.
