Athletics Communications Receives Three CoSIDA Awards

Department receives two `Best in the Nation' awards.

Allison McClain was promoted to Associate Director of Athletics Communications in July 2014 and will serve as the primary contact for Houston's Top 25 Baseball program as well as the secondary contact for Houston Football.

McClain joined the Houston Athletics Communications staff in February 2012 as an Assistant Director. In that role, McClain worked as the primary contact for Baseball, Soccer and Volleyball, while serving as the editor of the Houston Football and Men's Basketball gameday programs, which earned national recognition by CoSIDA as voted Ninth Best in the Nation.

McClain was part of a Communications staff in 2012 that was voted a Super 11 staff, which honors the top college communications staffs in the nation.

Prior to Houston, McClain was the Sports Information Director at her alma mater Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana.

At Centenary, McClain handled communication efforts for all 16-intercollegiate sports for 2.5 years as well as supervised a small staff of student assistants.

Before rejoining the Centenary athletic department, McClain spent the 2009 summer working as a Media Relations intern with the Houston Astros Baseball Club. With the Astros, she served as an editorial assistant for the Astros Magazine, assisted with game-day press box duties, compiled daily clips, worked with TV stats, and recapped games for the Astros Minor League affiliates.

McClain graduated from Centenary in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with an emphasis on Professional Writing. While at Centenary, McClain was a four-year letterwinner on the Ladies softball team, earning All Mid-Con honors as a utility player.

McClain is a native of Diboll, Texas. Her younger brother, Wesley, was an All-Conference honoree and four-year letterwinner for the Houston's Men's Golf Team from 2010-14.
