T.J. Meagher joined the University of Houston Athletics Department in 2000-01 and has worked in college athletics since 1993-94. In 2010, he assumed his current duties as Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations.
He is the primary contact for the new Houston Football Stadium project, which will cost $105 million when completed. In that role, he serves as the liaison between the Athletics Department and the University's Facilities Planning & Construction. He also works closely with the stadium design team from PageSoutherlandPage/DLR Group and construction management from Manhattan.
Meagher also leads operations for event management, human resources, equipment and information technology and is the Sport Administrator for women's volleyball.
Meagher previously spent four years as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Special Projects. He assisted in the facilitation of the department's compliance operation and collaborated with senior athletics administration on fiscal analyses. Early in his tenure, he began developing business plans for the Department's capital projects and participated in a comprehensive feasibility study for development of athletics facilities.
Prior to being promoted to that position, Meagher served as Compliance Coordinator at UH from 2002-2006. Meagher joined the compliance staff after holding the dual title of Athletics Ticket Office Coordinator and Merchandise Manager from 2000-02.
He came to Houston after working for seven years in collegiate volleyball. Meagher was the women's head coach at Campbell University from 1998-00 after serving as an assistant coach at Mississippi from 1995-98. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at the Kentucky in 1993.
In June 2006, Meagher was named the Legislative Representative to the Board of Directors for the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
A native of Louisville, Ky., Meagher earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1992 from Kentucky and received his Master of Business Administration from Morehead State in 1994.
Meagher and his wife, Gentine, have a daughter, Genevieve. The family lives in Houston.
