In his eighth year at the University of Houston, James Nicas is in his fifth year as Assistant Athletics Director for Development. Nicas oversees the cultivation of new Cougar Pride members and special events, including the Dominique Sachse/Hoops and Hardball Golf Tournament. He is also in charge of suite and floor seats for football and men's basketball games and the Wheels Club that provides courtesy vehicles to UH coaches and staff. Prior to his current post, Nicas also had a dual roll as Special Events and Marketing Coordinator, where he also coordinated student initiatives and marketing activities for men's basketball. Nicas originally came to UH in August of 2000, where he spent one year as an intern in the Athletic Marketing Office. Before joining the UH Athletics Department, Nicas spent one year as a graduate assistant in the Athletic Development Office at Wichita State where he received his master's of education degree in sports administration in 2001. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Nicas received a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis on marketing and management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1998. He is a member of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD). Nicas and his wife, Jenny, were married in May 2006. |
