Mathilda Christophe-Peterson is in her 14th year at the University of Houston and her eighth year as the Assistant Athletics Director for Business Services.

She joined the Athletics Department in June 2001 as the Department Business Administrator and was promoted in April 2002 to her current post. Peterson is responsible for and administers the financial, administrative, budgetary, human resources, payroll operations for the Athletics Department.

Before joining the athletics staff, Peterson spent two years as the Business Administrator for the Provost Central Business office and four years as the financial coordinator in the Dean's Office for the College of Pharmacy. There, she received the College of Pharmacy Staff Achievement Award in 1998.

Prior to her stint at UH, Peterson served as an accounting clerk in the accounts payable department for the University of Texas Health Science Center. She began her career at Northwestern State University - her alma mater - where she spent two years as an accounting clerk in the Comptroller's Office.

Peterson, who is a native of Natchitoches, La., earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Northwestern State in 1989.
