In his fifth year at the University of Houston, Mike Rea is in his fourth year as Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Operations.
He was named Assistant Athletics Director in September 2006 after serving nearly a year as the director of ticket operations. In addition, Rea serves as the administrator for women's swimming and diving.
Rea joined Houston's staff from Texas A&M, where he oversaw ticket sales for the university's Olympic sports and assisted with ticket sales for football and men's basketball for two years.
Prior to that, Rea was the Assistant Ticket Manager and Box Office Manager at Oklahoma from 2001 to 2003. His main duties included the hiring and training of box-office employees. Rea also assisted with the management and oversight of the operations team, including the 2001-02 season, when both the men's and women's basketball played in the NCAA Final Four.
Before being named an assistant ticket manager, Rea was an information technology specialist at the University and worked in the ticket office as an intern.
A native of Broken Arrow, Okla., Rea graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a master's degree in sports management in 2004 and a bachelor's degree in marketing in 2000.
He is married to the former Barb Langfield and has four stepsons Mason, Garrett, Carter and Jett. The family lives in The Woodlands, Texas.
