Cougars stumble in final nonconference contest prior to their American Athletic Conference slate
WACO, Texas – The University of Houston softball team dropped a 3-0 game the series finale to #21/#20 Baylor on Sunday afternoon at Getterman Stadium.Â

Graduate student Kenna Wilkey (7-7), tossing six strikeouts in her seventh complete game of the season, earned the decision for Houston (12-16). Dariana Orme (10-2) picked up her second win of the weekend for Baylor (22-5), further dropping her ERA this season to 0.79.Â

1st | After Paige Hulsey reached on a walk in Houston's half of the inning, Baylor took a 1-0 lead, driving home a run on an infield single from Sydney Collazos.

4th | Baylor pushes its lead to three. Kaci West tallies a solo home run on a 2-2 pitch to make the score 3-0.Â

5th | Matthews leads-off Houston's half of the inning with a single to extend her hitting streak, but a double-play ended the inning before the Cougars could get on the board.Â

Houston kicks off conference play in its final season in The American by heading to Tennessee for a three-game series against Memphis. The series starts on Friday, March 24 at 5 p.m. followed by games on March 25 at 2 p.m. and March 26 at noon.
