University of Houston Equipment Department
Student Worker Information
The equipment department handles the equipment purchasing, maintenance, issuance, storage and other assorted details for all 16 intercollegiate athletic teams at the University of Houston. Along with its equipment duties, the department is instrumental in the operation of practices, travel and contests for the Cougars.
Jay Takach starts his 10th season as a member of the Houston equipment staff as the Assistant Athletics Director for Equipment Operations. Takach manages the day-to-day workings with Nike and oversees the department.
Victor Ignatiev serves as the Assistant Director for Equipment Operations. Ignatiev is in his ninth season with the University of Houston and oversees, organizes and coordinates the student-manager program.
In addition to the full-time staff personnel, the equipment staff is assisted by numerous student-managers who are assigned a sport and are responsible for the daily maintenance, organizing, storing and laundry of the athletics equipment.
