"Read to Be"
The U of H Athletic Department Community Outreach Program is introducing a reading incentive program aimed at encouraging reading in the K-5th grades. "Read to Be" consists of U of H athletes visiting Houston area grade schools and educating the youth on the importance of reading. The athletes will encourage the students to read and "Be What You Want to Be" Students will mail a copy of each book cover, and a letter from their guardian/librarian indicating that the student has completed the book and understands its contents. Each time a "Read to Be" student completes a school library-approved book, the University of Houston Athletic Department (Little Coogs Outreach Program) will send a prize (signed poster, T-Shirt, or game ticket) as well as a personalized letter from a current UH student athlete. "Read to Be" students can start their own UH collection which will reflect how many books they've read through the program. Please send all correspondence to:
