Tom Franklin joined the Houston Cougar broadcast team in the spring of 2004. Although Tom just joined the Cougar family he is no stranger to Houston area sports. He has handled play-by-play duties for the Houston Oilers and Rice University. Tom has also handled pregame and postgame shows for the Rockets, Astros, and Oilers. He has been honored for his work by the Houston Press Club, the Dallas Press Club, the Texas Associated Press, and the UPI Broadcasters of Texas.

Chuck Brown will assist this upcoming football season by taking over the sideline reporting. Chuck, a former all-Southwest Conference performer for the Cougars, played for the Oilers and Major League Baseball's St. Louis Cardinals. Brown and his wife, Karen, have two children, Chad, a student at Texas Tech University; and Madison, a seven year old in the second grade.

Tony Fitzpatrick, an assistant coach for UH from 1988-1998, will partake in his first season as color analyst. Prior to the 2004 football season Tony was the Cougar's sideline reporter for two years. Fitzpatrick played for the 1983 National Champion Miami Hurricanes and then proceeded to play professionally with the Minnesota Vikings and in Canada with the Ottawa Roughriders. In 1987 he played with the Houston Oilers before injuring his left shoulder and ending his playing career.
