Bio: Thomas Rice begins his 1st year as an intern athletic trainer at the University of Houston. His primary team responsibility is with football. A native of Rochester NY, Rice received his undergraduate degree from Ithaca College in 2012. He received his master’s degree from the University of Kentucky in 2014, where he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. In his spare time, he enjoys watching the Buffalo Bills, cooking, playing racquetball, and making up corny jokes.

Bio: Yuri Ashley enters his first year at the University of Houston as an Assistant Athletic Training Intern with Cross Country, Track and Field. Ashley received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from LSU. A native of Shreveport, LA, Ashley graduated C.E. Byrd High School in 2010. After completion of his internship, Ashley plans on pursuing his Masters degree from the University of Houston.

Bio: Katherine Barnes enters her 1st season as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Houston. Her primary team coverage is with women’s softball. She also assists in sports medicine coverage with all other sports teams. Katherine serves as a preceptor for the MAT program.
She is a native of Houston, Texas. Katherine graduated from Bellaire High School in 2010, and she continued her education at Baylor University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training in 2014. She is currently working towards her Master’s degree from the University of Houston.

Bio: Wafaa Chatila enters her first year as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Houston. Her primary team coverage is with women's soccer but also assists with other UH sports teams.
A Texas native, Wafaa graduated from TCU with a bachelor's degree in athletic training. As an undergraduate for the horned frogs, she worked with TCU's 2010 Rose bowl champion football team as well as many other sports on campus.

Bio: Nikki Hight is beginning her first year at the University of Houston as a graduate assistant athletic trainer, primarily with the Swimming and Diving team. She assists with sports medicine coverage for other UH teams. She is also pursuing a Master's at UH in Sports and Fitness Administration.
Nikki graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Athletic Training in May 2014. Prior to Austin, she graduated from Willis High School in Willis, TX in 2010.
Nikki (formerly Hogan) is married to Casey Hight of Conroe, TX and the couple has one cat, Boo.

Bio: Lindsey is entering her first year at the University of Houston, seeking a degree in Sports and Fitness Administration. She currently covers volleyball and women’s tennis for the Cougars and also serves a preceptor for the MAT program.
After graduating from North Mesquite High School in 2009, she went on to complete her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from The University of Texas at Austin in 2014. She enjoys going back to her hometown to visit her parents, Richard and Lori Matvey, as well as her two sisters, niece, and nephew. When she’s not working, she enjoys being at the lake or taking a run on trails.
