Six student-athletes and two relay teams will represent the University of Houston as they trek to the 2013 NCAA Division I Track & Field Outdoor Championships, starting Wednesday at the historic Hayward Field. These Cougars advanced after qualifying at the West Preliminary Round in Austin on May 23-25. The top 12 finishers in the West's preliminary events punched their tickets to the Championships.

With all the rain and weather delays, freshman Eric Futch's running during day two of the NCAA Division I Track & Field West Preliminary Round at Mike A. Myers Stadium Friday night was not affected. The Darby, Penn., native ran a season best of 50.66 in the men's 400-meter hurdles to advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore on June 5-8.

The University of Houston track and field team took on a field of the region's premier student-athletes during day one of the NCAA Division I Track & Field West Preliminary Round at Mike A. Myers Stadium on Thursday afternoon. Freshmen Eric Futch and Leshon Collins, along with senior Isaiah Sweeney advanced to tomorrow's quarterfinals in their respective events.

Senior Isaiah Sweeney claimed two individual event titles and one as a member of the men's 4x100-meter relay team during the fourth and final day of the Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Holloway Track/Ley Field Sunday evening. Sweeney turned in three of the Cougar's eight individual titles won over the weekend to be named Male High Point Scorer of the Meet.

Senior jumper Isaiah Sweeney defended this conference long jump title during day three of the Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Rice's Holloway Track/Ley Field Saturday evening. Sweeney would go on to top his competition with a personal-record setting leap of 7.76m (25-5.5).

After two weather delays, the University of Houston's multi-event student-athletes and throwers finally got to compete in day two of the Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Halloway Track/Ley Field on Friday afternoon. Senior Rick Fenton took home gold in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 61.90m (203-1).

Three multi-event student-athletes competed in day one of the 2013 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Halloway Field/Ley Track on the campus of Rice Thursday afternoon. Junior Cassie Wiley and senior Kevin Johnson both sit in fourth-place, while freshman Sean Spiehler is ranked seventh overall.
