2016-17 (Sophomore)
Competed in seven meets during the indoor season, while running in multiple events in each...Set new personal bests in each of the 60- and 200-meter dashes at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships after picking up a fifth place finish in the 60 in 6.78 and an 11th place mark in the 200 in 21.71...Finished third in the 60-meter dash at the Charlie Thomas Invitational with a time of 6.79.

Outdoor: Was a member of the 4x100-meter relay squad that won the NCAA National Championship with a school-record time of 38.34 en route to earning NCAA First Team All-America Honors...Qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary round in both the 100-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay...Set a personal best of 10.38 en route to a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash at the American Athletic Conference Championships...Logged a new personal record of 21.47 in the 200-meter dash with a fifth place finish at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet on April 22.

Competed in seven events for Houston during the indoor season...Finished ninth in his first American Indoor Championships in the 60m dash where he ran 6.88...Ran a personal best 6.82 in the 60m dash at the Don Kirby Open & Elite on Feb. 12...Took third at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational in the 60m dash where he ran 6.88...Clocked a 7.08 in his first collegiate race to place 19th in the 60m dash at the Reveille Invitational

Outdoor: Ran 21.82 in his first 200m dash of the outdoor season at the Baylor Invitational...Ran a wind-aided 10.49 to make his individual outdoor running debut at the Texas Relays...Opened his season as a member of the first place 4x100m and 4x200m relay squads that competed at the 65th Annual TSU Relays.

Four-year letterwinner in track and field and football...competed in AAU, USA and TAAF Summer track...Named a 2015 MileSplit All-American in the 100m Dash...Texas 5A State Champion in the 100m dash after clocking his personal best time of 10.34, placing him second in the United States and first in the state of Texas among seniors...Seventh place finish at the USATF Junior National Outdoor T&F Championships in the 100m dash...2015 Champion in the 100m dash at the TTFCA Meet of Champions...Won the 60m dash at the Carl Lewis Invitational in 6.89 which gave him the 27th fastest time nationally and the third best time in Texas.

Full name is John Lee Lewis III...son of John and Calandra Lewis...has one younger brother, Joel (14)...aspires to become a scientist, operating his own research lab while also writing and publishing poetry...graduated Summa Cum Laude at Willis High School...Was a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Academic UIL in high school...enjoys reading, playing video/board games, watching cartoons and writing poetry in his spare time.
