Indoor: Set a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles and the high jump at the Howie Ryan Invitational with a time of 8.90 on the track and going over the bar at 1.85m (6-0.75)...Completed his first career heptathlon at the Houston Invitational where he finished fourth with 4,419 points. Set career highs in the overall competition as well as in the long jump (6.72m), pole vault (3.40m), 1,000-meter run (3:07.37) and 60-meter dash (7.37).
Did not compete for Houston during the 2016-17 season.
Four-year letterwinner for coach Aaron Troyer at Clear Brook High School…Was a member of two distric championship teams…won the Steve Bledsoe High Point Award…Set Clear Brook records in the long jump (23-2) and high jump (6-5)…Also competed in football for three seasons as a wide receiver.
Son of Wayde and Julie Barksdale…Has one brother, Jake…Won the Outstanding Student Award and Superintendent’s Scholar in high school…was a member of National Honor Society and Safe School Ambassador at Clear Brook…Enjoys playing any sport in his free time…Aspires to be a marketing manager after his track career.
