Outdoor: Broke her own school record and claimed the bronze medal at The American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships when she threw 59.44m (195-0) and earned Third Team All-American Athletic Conference honors...Qualified for the NCAA West Regional for the first time in her career with her top mark in the hammer throw...Threw the hammer 58.11m (190-8) to finish second at the Tom Tellez Invitational on May 5...Opened the season with a win at the Cougar Spring Break Invitational after a mark of 54.56m (179-0).

2015-16 (Freshman)
Threw the shot put and weight in six events for Houston...Placed 10th in her first American Championships with a personal best 14.27m throw in the shot put...Recorded a personal best and a sixth place finish at the Reveillie Invitational with a mark of 15.35 in the weight.

Outdoor: Notched the second longest hammer throw in school history with a 51.97m performance at the Baylor Invitational...Picked up a pair of top-8 finishes at the Victor Lopez Classic including a third place throw of 51.87m in the hammer as well as an eighth place shot put of 13.92m...Opened the season with a fifth place shot put of 13.76m at the UTSA Invitational.

Competed for coach Robert Whitfield in the shot put and hammer throw for the Lobos of Chavez High School...District and regional champion in the shot put in 2014...became the first Chavez High School student-athlete to qualify for the state meet and holds the Chavez record in the shot put at 45'9".

Full name is Mikaila Alexis Martin...daughter of Yolanda Martin...was a two-time member of the All-District First Team in basketball and volleyball...aspires to be a veterinarian...enjoys reading, writing and working out in her free time.
