ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Inclement weather in the northern part of the country Thursday evening kept half of the Houston track and field team from making the trip to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Cherry & Silver Collegiate Invitational.
Cameron Burrell was the Cougars top finisher in the men's 200m dash with a time of 21.37, good enough for fifth place in the meet and a season best by a Cougar. Sophomore Leshon Collins tied for sixth with a time of 21.41.
On the women's side, Ngozi Onwumere finished in the top 15 in the 200m dash with a time of 24.50, the fastest time by a Cougar this season. Sophomore Kelli Hardnett ran a season best 25.44 while junior Alicia Perkins ran a personal best 25.52 in the 200m.
Perkins also placed in the top 10 in the women's long jump with a season best mark of 5.85m (19'-2.5"). Onwumere jumped a season best (5.66m, 18'-7") to place in the top 15 of the competition.
