COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Sophomore thrower Taylor Scaife set a new school record in the weight throw, while the Houston Cougar Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams wrapped up competition at the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a pair of fouls in her first two throws, Scaife launched a mark of 55-4.5 (16.78m) to reach the finals of the weight throw. Scaife improved to 58-8.75 (17.90m) on her fourth attempt and a foul on her fifth brought the competition down to the final toss. Scaife’s last throw traveled 67-0.75 (20.44m) to break Emily Nnokwam’s mark of 62-3.75 (18.99m) set on Feb. 23, 2013. Scaife’s mark now ranks her No. 11 in the NCAA this season.
