Final Stats

The University of Houston men's and women's track and field teams combined to win six events at the UH Hyatt Regency Invitational inside the Bill Yeoman Field House on Saturday, February 5.

Houston's individual champions included LaDedra Guy, Alicia Cave, Stanford Routt, Sesar Figueroa and Brandon Bray.

Guy won the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.75 seconds. Cave won the 60-meter hurdles and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 8.41 seconds.

In the men's division, senior All-American sprinter Stanford Routt won his third 200-meter race of the season with a winning time of 21.47 seconds.

Junior middle distance runner, Sesar Figueroa, won both the men's mile and men's 1,000-meter races with times of 4:12.95 in the mile and a hand-held time of 2:28.4 in the 1000 meters.

Brandon Bray won the men's long jump after leaping 7.26 meters (23-10). Tom Rusteberg and Tristian Whitley were the top collegiate competitors in the pole vault and high jump, respectively. Rusteberg finished third overall after he cleared 4.90 meters (16-0.75) in the pole vault. Whitley also finished in third place overall in the men's high jump after clearing 2.08 meters (6-9.75).

Johnathan Reeves was the runner-up in the men's shot put with a throw of 17.15 meters (56-3.25) and Shayla Bowman was the runner-up in the women's weight throw with a toss of 16.89 meters (55-5).

 

 

Houston also had a second-place finish in the men's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:20.01.

Rachel Easley posted a third-place finish in the women's triple jump after leaping 11.52 meters (37-9.50).

Tinisha Wesley also had a third-place finish in the women's shot put with a throw of 14.11 meters (46-3.50).
