Fayetteville - University of Houston junior sprinter Cheryl Garner had a 12th place finish in the preliminary rounds of the 200 meters at the 2005 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a season-best time of 23.72 seconds.

Garner, the 2005 Conference USA Indoor 200 and 400-meter champion, had a previous season-best time of 23.79 seconds at the C-USA Championships earlier this year.

She also will compete in the 4x400-meter relay at the NCAA Indoor Championships when she runs the anchor leg on Houston's team on Saturday, March 12.
