    HOUSTON -
    The University of Houston track and field teams claim six first place finishes on the final day of the Rice Victor Lopez Invitational at the Holloway Field/Ley Track on Saturday.

    For the women, senior Tai'shea Reese and junior Karley King claimed first places in the long jump and the pole vault. Reese topped the long jump field with her leap of 6.09m. King led all pole vaulters with her 3.85m vault.

    Reese also finished second in the 200m dash with her time of 23.84.

    Freshman Darrell Hill and senior John Fortune set the tone early for the men's field events as they placed second and fourth, respectively, in the shot put.

    Kennis Byers added another solid performance in the field events as he finished second in the high jump with his 2.05m leap.

    Houston then claimed the men and women's 800m competition, as Anthony Coleman and Kat Ducommun were both victorious in the event. Coleman finished first with his time of 1:52.35, while Ducommun crossed the line in 2:16.16 to lead all women.
    For nine long hours junior sprinter Errol Nolan was an onlooker at Saturday's competition before claiming another first place finish for the Cougars, in the men's 200m dash with his time of 20.79.

    Senior hurdler DeMeeka Jones and freshman Alicia Perkins claimed first and second places, respectively, in the women's 110mH. Jones finished in 13.49 seconds, while Perkins crossed the line in 13.82 seconds.

    The women's 4x100m relay team (Reese, Harris, Perkins, Brewer) also added an impressive first place finish, as it finished in a season best time of 44.09.

    UP NEXT

    The Cougars will travel to Austin for the Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas, on March 28-31.
