    AUSTIN, Texas- Thrower John Fortune threw a season best in the men's shot put on Friday to lead the University Houston track and field program through day three of the 86th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

    The Cleveland, Texas, native threw 17.14m (56-3) to place second in Section B. On the women's side, sophomore Samatha Taylor placed eighth with a 13.71m (44-11.75) throw.

    In the men's distance medley relay, sophomores Drevan Anderson-Kaapa, Xavier Boyd, Anthony Coleman and Yonas Tesfai ran a time of 9:55.0 to place fifth overall in the University Men's division.

    After qualifying for the finals in the University Men's 400-meter hurdles yesterday, freshman Eric Futch finished with a time of 53.05, notching a seventh-place finish.

    The men's 4x100-meter team, comprised of Isaac Williams, Leshon Collins, James Arnett and Isaiah Sweeney, placed third in its heat and seventh overall with a time of 40.59. With this time, the team qualified for the Clyde Littlefield 4x100m relay finals at 1:30 p.m., Saturday.

    A LOOK AHEAD
    The Cougars will take to the track for the final day of the Relays at noon to compete in the University Men's 4x200-meter relay (Invitational). Saturday's competition will conclude at 4:05 p.m. with the Cleburne Price, Jr. 4x400-meter relay.
