Houston, Texas - Senior distance runner Cole Dailey won the men's 10,000-meter run to lead the University of Houston men's track and field team to a third-place finish with 57.50 points at the Rice University Bayou Classic. Dailey won the race with a career-best time of 31:09.43.

Texas won the men's team title with 68.50 points, while Texas A&M-Kingsville scored 63 points to finish in second place.

In addition to Dailey's victory, Ron Veillon had a career-best performance in the men's pole vault as he finished as the runner-up after clearing 16' 6.75". Tom Rusteberg had a fifth-place finish after clearing 16' 0.75".

Houston also finished in third place in both relay races with a time of 40.71 seconds in the 4x100-meter relay and 3:12.95 in the 4x400-meter relay races.

Ivan Diggs finished in fourth place after clearing 6' 8.75" in the men's high jump, and Jonathan Reeves had a sixth-place finish in the men's discus with a throw of 158'7".

Sam Fobbs had a sixth-place finish in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.63 seconds, and Alex Winstel had a fifth-place time in the men's steeplechase with a time of 9:38.90. Sesar Figueroa also finished in seventh-place in the men's 5,000-meter run with a season-best time of 15:03.76.

The Lady Cougars finished in seventh place with 40 points after Allie Booker and Caresir Hamilton finished as runner-ups in the discus and high jump, respectively. Booker had a throw of 156'7" in the discus, and Hamilton cleared 5'7" in the high jump.

 

 

Houston also was the runner-up in the women's 4x100-meter relay race with a time of 46.02 seconds.

Laura Harlett had a fourth-place finish in the women's 10,000-meter run with a time of 40:15.40. Rachel Easley had a fourth-place showing in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.35 seconds while running into a head wind.

Tinisha Wesley also had a fifth-place finish in the women's shot put with a mark of 46' 4.75".
