    BATON ROUGE -
    The University of Houston track and field teams conclude the second annual "Battle on the Bayou" at Bernie Moore Stadium on Saturday. The women placed seventh, while the men took ninth in the tough field that included six top-20 programs.

    The women's 4x100m relay (Reese, Harris, Brewer, Bolton) had the strongest
    performance of the day for the Cougars, as they placed third, finishing in 44.52. LSU set the top mark in the event, crossing the line in 43.47.

    Ngozi Onwumere and Grecia Bolton had two strong performances in the 200m dash as they placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Onwumere finished with a 24.04 mark, while Bolton crossed the line in 24.06, in her first open 200m race of the outdoor season.

    In the field events, freshman Dominique Brisco took fourth in the women's triple jump with her 12.23m/40-01.50 mark. Fellow freshman Alicia Perkins also added a fourth place finish with her 5.95m/19-06.25 mark in the long jump competition.

    Karley King placed fifth in the pole vault with her 3.88m/12-08.75 vault. Shade Weygandt of Texas Tech took first in the event with her mark of 4.33m. Nicole Benton also notched a fifth place finish in the discus throw, with her toss of 48.37m.

    For the men, junior sprinter Markquis Frazier took third in the 200m dash with his season-best time of 21.01. Frazier had the second fastest time among collegiate athletes as Michael Mathieu of Tiger Olympians took first with his time of 20.39 and LSU's Aaron Ernest claimed second at 20.79.

    The men's 4x100m relay (Lang, Nolan, Lang, and Frazier) placed sixth in the event with a time of 40.88. LSU snatched first, finishing in 39.74.

    UP NEXT

    The Cougars will return to Austin for their second time within three weeks as they return for the UT Invitational on Saturday, April 14.
