College Station, Texas - In a meet shortened by poor weather conditions, the University of Houston won the men's 4x100-meter relay with their best time of the season with a time of 40.25 seconds. The anchor leg for the relay, Preston Perry, also had the second-fastest collegiate time fourth-best time overall in the 100 meters with a wind-aided time of 10.45 seconds.

Another member of the relay team, Brandon Womack, had a time of 10.94 seconds in the 100 meters and also posted a fifth-place finish in the men's long jump with a leap of 23-8.25 (7.22 meters) while jumping into a slight wind.

A pair of Houston's distance runners posted the best collegiate times in each of their events. Sesar Figueroa was the top collegian and finished in third place overall with a time of 1:54.28 in the men's 800-meter race. Chris White finished 12th with a time of 1:57.42 and Alex Winstel was 14th with a time of 1:57.67.

In the men's steeplechase, Maurillio Sanchez was the best collegiate runner when he finished fourth overall with a time of 9:37.32. Brent Henson had a time of 4:07.06 in the 1500 meters.

Andrew Carruthers had a wind-aided time of 14.23 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles to finish in fifth place, while Milton Manson had the eighth-fastest time with a wind-aided 14.34 seconds. Eric Matcek also had a time of 15.94 seconds.

Houston won the men's 4x100-meter relay with a season-best time of 40.25 seconds, while Tristian Whitley finished in third place after clearing 6 feet, 8 inches (2.05m) in the high jump.

 

 

Womack also finished in fifth place with a leap of 23-8.25 (7.22) while jumping into a wind of nearly 0.4 of a meter per second.

In the women's division, Houston had a second-place finish in the women's 4x100-meter relay with a season-best time of 45.29 seconds.

LaDedra Guy had the eighth-fastest time in the 100 meters with 11.63 seconds. Lisa Wilson had a time of 12.07 seconds to finish in 12th place, while Shay Coles had a time of 13.26 seconds.

Crystal Freeman had her best performance of the season in the 800 meters when she finished in fourth place with a time of 2:15.12. Jennifer Hunt had a time of 2:19.12 to finish in 14th place. It was Hunt's first 800-meter race of the season.

Terie Littlepage had a seventh-place time of 12:17.86 in the steeplechase, while Cynthia Silva had a time of 5:20.79 in the 1500 meters.

Alicia Cave had a wind-aided time of 13.59 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles to finish in fourth place. Jaketa West had a time of 14.42 seconds to finish in 10th place, while Rachael Easley had the 13th-fastest time of 14.80 seconds. Nichole Brundage had a time of 15.62 seconds.

In the women's triple jump, Caresir Hamilton finished in second place after posting her second-best effort of the season with 40-2.25 (12.25m). Easley finished in eighth place with a wind-aided jump of 38-00.75 (11.60m) and Kelli Williams had a wind-aided jump of 36-4.25 (11.08m).

Hamilton also finished 11th in the women's long jump with a leap of 18-10 (5.74m) and Brundage had a leap of 17-2.25 (5.24) to finish in 28th place. Kelli Williams had a leap of 16-10 (5.13m) to finish in 31st place.

Jessica Edwards equaled her season-best effort of 11-3.75 (3.45m) to finish in fifth place in the pole vault.
