    The University of Houston track and field team records 15 top-five finishes on Saturday at the Texas Invitational at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

    The women's 4x100m relay (Reese, Harris, Perkins, Bolton) notched another victory in the event as they took first with their time of 44.63.

    The women also claimed five of the top-10 places in the 100m hurdles, including DeMeeka Jones' first place finish with her time of 13.20. Alicia Perkins, Amber Sellers, Olivia Amy and Megan Frausto took places 6, 8, 9 and 10, respectively.

    Ciera Johnson added a first place finish for the women in the 800m. Johnson finished in 2:11.69 to notch her first victory of the season in the event.

    The women's 4x400m relay team of Amber Sellers, Alicia Perkins, Kiersten Brewer and Alicia Frederick took fourth with their time of 4:01.31.

    In the field events, Tai'shea Reese claimed first in the long jump with her season best 20-05.00 jump, Karley King took second in the pole vault with her 3.77m vault and Nicole Benton placed second in the discus throw with her 45.28m mark. Benton also took fifth in the hammer throw with her toss of 50.39m.

    In addition, freshman Dominique Brisco and junior Key Richards took first and second in the triple jump, respectively. Brisco set the top mark in the event with her jump of 39-03.00.

    For the men, Thomas Lang finished fourth in the triple jump with his season best jump of 51-06.50, second among collegiate athletes. Lang also took fifth in the men's 100m hurdles with his time of 14.12.

    Also in the jumps, Simon Stewart placed fifth in the long jump with his 23-06.00 jump.

    Jordan Hofbaur contributed to another top-five finish for the men as he took fourth in the 400m hurdles with his time of 54.17.


    The Cougars will head west as they travel to Walnut, CA for the Mt. SAC relays on Thursday, April 19.
