HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field teams concluded day one of the 118th running of the Penn Relays from Franklin Field on Thursday as Nate Pineda Set another personal record, the women's 4x100m relay took eighth and the women's 4x400m placed 20th in the preliminary rounds.
Pineda took fourth in the Olympic Development division of the 3,000m steeplechase, setting yet another personal best time of 9:08.98. Pineda improved on his previous personal best of 9:11.30, set at last weekend's Mt. Sac Relays. Pineda posted the fastest time among collegiate athletes in the division on Friday.
Tai'shea Reese, Alicia Perkins, Kiersten Brewer, and Grecia Bolton ran a time of 45.20 in the 4x100m relay to claim eighth. Fellow Conference USA member UCF claimed first as they ran a time of 43.84.
The women's 4x400m relay comprised of Brittany Wallace, Ciera Johnson, Amber Sellars and Ngozi Onwumere crossed the line in 3:42.87, taking 20th place. Oregon claimed the event with their time of 3:33.78.
The Cougars return for day two of the Penn Relays on Friday. The 4x100m relay will be in the Championship of America division and the 4x400m relay will be in the College division. Live results, meet information and the Friday schedule can be found here.
