ATLANTA, Ga. - Freshman Jack Thomas highlighted Day One of the Georgia Tech Invitational as he won the competition with a new personal best.
Thomas threw a personal best mark of 65.32m (214'-4") to improve his previous best and the third best mark in school history. Thomas' mark is now the 25th best mark in the West region.
Junior Yonas Tesfai recorded a season best in the 1,500m run with a time of 3:51.41.
Freshman Antwan Dickerson finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 7.36m (24'-1.75"), his second best leap of the season.
On the women's side, junior Kiersten Brewer qualified for the 100m dash final with a time of 11.79. She went on to take second place in the finals with a season best time of 11.72 just behind conference foe Stephanie Kalu from SMU.
Houston continues day two of the competition at the Georgia Tech Invitational tomorrow. The women's high jump and pole vault kicks off at 10 a.m. (CT) followed by the running events at noon (CT).
