EUGENE, Ore. - The men's and women's 4x100-meter relay teams and freshman Eric Futch represented the University of Houston during day one of the 2013 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the historic Hayward Field Wednesday evening.
The women's 4x100m relay team, comprised of Sade-Mariah Greenidge, Kiersten Brewer, Alicia Perkins, and Ngozi Onwumere, ran a time of 45.02 to place 16th in the semifinals, while the men's team (Leshon Collins, Issac Williams, James Arnett, & Isaiah Sweeney) clocked in at 40.54 to finish 21st. With these times, both teams did not qualify for Saturday's finals.
Futch, the only Conference USA 400-meter hurdler to advance to Nationals, finished just short of qualifying for Friday after running a time of 51.15 to place 12th overall.
Thursday's events will kick off with the men's hammer throw at 3:30 p.m. (CST), followed by the women's 200-meter dash at 6 p.m. (CST) and the men's and women's short-distance hurdles at 7:20 p.m (CST) and 7:05 p.m. (CST), respectively.
