NCAA Championships Day 1 Results in PDF Format Get Acrobat Reader

DES MOINES, Iowa - Sophomore Jason Perez and the women's 4X100-meter relay team represented the University of Houston track and field team during the first day of competition at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

After setting the fastest mark in the 400-meter hurdles in Conference USA this season, Perez posted a time of 52.10 in the preliminaries. The finish was not good enough to advance to the semifinals.

In the 4X100m, junior Dayo Ogunniyi, freshman Kalyn Floyd, sophomore Quin'shundolyn McPherson and junior Seun Adigun finished with a clocking of 44.63 to finish 10th. Their finish did not qualify for the semifinals.

Adigun and freshman Tyrone Carrier are scheduled to compete on Thursday in the 100-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash, respectively.

The prelims in the 100-meter hurdles are slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. The 200m prelims will be held at 5:25 p.m.
