Bray Qualifies for Pan Am Games At USATF Championships

Indianapolis, Ind. - Freshmen Wesley Bray and Brittani Williams finished competition in the decathlon and heptathlon today at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.

Bray finished second in the decathlon with 7,158 points trailing only Missouri's Nick Adcock's 7,293 points. His finish qualifies him for the Pan Am Junior Nationals in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 13-29, 2007 where he will represent the USA Junior Team.

Williams with sixth in the heptathlon with 2,726 points. She won both the javelin and 800 meter run portions during the second day.

Freshman Hyleta Young set a personal best in the long jump clearing 6.03m/19-09.50" to finish fourth. Freshman Quin'shundolyn McPherson added a sixth place finish of 5.88m/19-03.50.

Conference USA Newcomer of the Year Alex Bentley finished ninth in the pole vault competition clearing 4.85m/15-11.00.

During Friday's races, freshmen Ahmed Harb and Daniel Martinez will run the 1,500 meter race and McPherson will compete in the triple jump competition. Also competing will be Jason Perez in the 400-meter hurdles and Williams will throw in the javelin competition.
