COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The University of Houston track and field team proved they are poised for the 2010 indoor season when the Cougars claimed three event titles, set six personal records and registered one of Houston's all-time top 5 indoor performances at the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, Texas Saturday afternoon.

UH kicked off the day with the 60m hurdles. The Cougars had big shoes to fill as Seun Adigun and Steven Jones set the meet records at last year's competition. Freshman Olivia Amy made her collegiate debut with a fifth-place finish, clocking a time of 9.04. Senior Darryl Cloud represented Houston for the men, finishing with a mark of 8.63.

Stephanie Aldea obliterated the competition in the women's 5,000m race, clocking 17:39.92 - 20 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. The sophomore improved the meet record by one minute and made her way into the Houston record books with the second-best indoor 5,000m performance in program history. Sophomore Brandi Witte also ran faster than the previous meet record, finishing with a personal record time of 18:22.84.

Sophomore Ciera Johnson set a new 800m meet record, previously held by fellow Cougar Clarissa Payton. Johnson crossed the finish line at the 2:15.98 mark, and Payton followed in third place, setting a personal record of 2:17.71.

Alex Bentley opened his senior season at a high level, winning the men's pole vault with a meet record-setting mark of 4.93m (16-02.00). Freshman Michael Mahnke and junior Bryan Brown took the silver and bronze with a height of 4.58m (15-00.25). For the women, Shannan Arnold notched a third-place finish, eclipsing the bar at 3.43m (11-03.00).

For the first time as a Cougar, sophomore Rick Fenton notched a second-place finish in the weight throw with a meet-record toss of 15.59m (51-01.75).

Chris Carter also finished in second place, jumping a PR mark of 7.45m (24-05.50) in the long jump. Quinshundolyn McPherson led Houston in the women's long jump, finishing in third place with a length of 5.77m (18-11.25).

Junior Charlissa Foster placed third in the women's shot put, setting a personal record with a mark of 14.30m (46-11.00). Junior Kiera Pulliam out threw the meet record she set last year with a toss of 13.84m (45-05.00) to finish in fifth place. Mike Sanchez led the Cougars with a personal record of 15.75m (51-08.25) to finish in third place. John Fortune made his Cougar debut with a fourth-place finish, throwing the shot put 15.65m (51-04.25). Junior Sidney Flores set a PR with a distance of 15.40m (50-06.25).

Junior Christie Jones led Houston in the women's 60m dash, finishing in fifth place with a time of 7.50. Freshman Jeffery Thomas debuted in the 60m dash, clocking 6.99 - good for sixth place.

Houston concluded the day with the 4x400m relay. Jones, McPherson, Alysha Cook and Tatiana Miller competed in the women's "B" section and finished in fourth place with a time of 3:56.49. The men finished in fifth place, as Errol Nolan, Joseph Irabor, Lazarus Crumedy and Doug Kelley contributed to their 3:12.77 finish.

The Cougars have a month-long break before returning to action at the Yeoman Fieldhouse on Jan. 15 for the annual Leonard Hilton Memorial.
