HOUSTON -The University of Houston track and field team hosted the 2012 Leonard Hilton Invitational Friday evening and four Cougars earned first place in their respective competitions, although the meet was not scored.
UH was tops in the men's and women's pole vault. Junior Michael Mahnke cleared 5.05m/16-6.75 to take the men's pole vault andfellow junior Karley King vaulted 3.85m/12-07.50, improving on last years 3.70m/12-1.50 mark at this event, earning first in the women's pole vault.
Tai'shea Reese
took first in the long jump with her leap of 6.25m, setting a new personal indoor record.
John Fortune turned in his season's best throw of 17.64m to earn first in the men's shot put.
Head coach Leroy Burrell was pleased with the overall performance at the meet as 11 Cougars set personal records. The list includes junior college transfer Mark'quis Frazier, Errol Nolan, James Lang, and Reese (60m and long jump).
Former Cougar hurdler and assistant coach Seun Adigun set the world's fastest time in the women's 60m hurdles this year (8.12) along with setting a personal best mark in the 60m dash.
