HOUSTON - University of Houston freshman Chris Carter was named the Conference USA Male Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 28 as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

The Hearne, Texas native won the award after he achieved an NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump at the Arkansas Razorback Invitational on Jan. 26. His jump of 15.41m (50-06.75) was enough for a fifth place finish at the meet and is currently the best jump in C-USA.

This is the first athlete of the week award for Carter and the third for the Cougars this season. Senior Ivan Diggs and junior Seun Adigun swept the award during the opening week of the indoor season on Jan. 14.

Houston returns home to host the Houston Indoor Invitational and Multis on Feb. 1-2 at the Yeoman Field House. This is the first of two-straight indoor meets for the Cougars before they return to Arkansas for the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 15-16.
