Houston Moves into USTFCCCA Top-10

Feb. 19, 2018

HOUSTON – The Houston Cougar Men’s Track & Field Team finds itself inside the Top 10 of the USTFCCCA Indoor Rankings for the first time in program history, coming in at No. 10 in the latest poll released Monday.

The Cougars improved six spots from the previous poll on Feb. 12 and have a team total of 59.27 points in the computer-generated poll.

Houston has been led in the poll this season by senior Elijah Hall who holds two of Houston’s four top-10 times nationally. Hall ran the third-fastest time in the NCAA this season in the 60-meter dash, when he won the Tyson Invitational in 6.58. The Katy, Texas, native broke his own school record in the 200-meter dash at the Charlie Thomas Invitational when he clocked a 20.51 to move to No. 4 in the nation.

Hall also ran the second leg of the men’s 4x400-meter relay that broke the school record and sits at No. 4 in the NCAA during the indoor season. Hall teamed with Amere Lattin, Mario Burke and Kahmari Montgomery to run 3:04.18 and win the Tyson Invitational.

Montgomery also holds a top-10 mark in the NCAA this season with the ninth fastest time in the 400-meter dash of 46.00 at the Tyson Invitational. Montgomery’s time is the second-fastest in program history.

Lattin and Burke round out the top-rated performances this season for Houston. Lattin’s 7.79 in the 60-meter hurdles at the Tyson Invitational ranks 15th in the event this season, while Burke’s 26th rated mark of 6.67 in the 60-meter dash came at the Tyson Invitational.
