HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field programs will travel to Birmingham, Ala., to compete at the Conference USA Indoor Championships Saturday through Sunday. The meet will be held at the Birmingham Crossplex on the UAB campus.
The meet will begin on Saturday with the multi-event competitions at 9 AM, field events will begin at noon and running events are slated to start at 5 PM.
The Houston men's team will be seeking its sixth-consecutive C-USA indoor team championship.
The men's team boasts the nation's top 400m-dash runner in Errol Nolan. Nolan is also atop C-USA in the 200m and 60m dashes. In addition, freshman John Horton and sophomore Malcolm Howard rank first and second, respectively, in the men's triple jump in the conference ranks.
Also, the men's 4x400m relay and distance medley relay are currently ranked No. 1 in the conference entering the championship meet.
The women's team will be looking to improve on last year's seventh place conference finish.
Megan Frausto and Karley King will lead the way for the women as Frausto tops the conference in the high jump and pentathlon, while King is C-USA's top pole vaulter.
Furthermore, five student-athletes rank among the top five in the conference in five different individual events.
The meet will be televised on Fox Sports Network Saturday and Sunday. Live results will be provided by Flash Texas.
