Track and Field Heads to Puerto Rico for Spring Break Classi

HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team heads to Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, this Saturday, March 19, for the Spring Break Classic. After a successful indoor season that sent three individuals to the NCAA Championships and witnessing the men won their fifth-straight indoor conference title, this meet marks the start of the outdoor season.
Houston was invited to the meet by Houston alumnus and legendary former Rice University coach, Victor Lopez. The Cougars will be one of six American schools including the University of Kansas, Albany University, West Point, Bethune Cookman and University of Long Island. The meet is hosted by the Puerto Rico Foundation for the Development of Athletics (FUPPDA), the Puerto Rico Interuniversity Athletics League (LAI) and the Porta del Sol Athletics Association.
The City of Mayaguez has a state of the art track and field stadium with a 400m IAAF Certified Class 2, Mondo Sport Flex Super X synthetic track, with seating capacity for 12,000 spectators with multiple field events facilities.
