Spiehler Takes Third at Shirley Crowe Multi Events Classic

Group B Final Results | Heptathlon Results HOUSTON - Three University of Houston track and field multi event athletes concluded the Shirley Crowe Multi Event Classic Wednesday evening at Rice Soccer/Track Stadium.
Freshman Sean Spiehler took home a third place finish after accumulating 6,067 points in the decathlon. The Kingwood, Texas, native placed in the top-five in seven of the 10 events. Spiehler finished first in the long jump with a leap of 6.75m (22-1.75), while tying for the top spot in the high jump with a distance of 1.96m (6-5).
Teammate senior Kevin Johnson completed three events before pulling out of the competition. Johnson placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.45, fifth in the shot put (10.71m, 35-1.75), and 10th in the long jump (6.75m, 22-1.75).
For the Cougar women, junior Cassie Wiley competed in five events, but did not compete in the 800-meter dash. Wiley placed second in the shot put (12.24m, 40-2), fourth in the javelin (33.74m, 110-8), seventh in the long jump (5.23m, 17-2), 13th in the 200-meter dash (27.10), and 16th in the 100-meter hurdles (16.28).
