Houston Travels to LSU Alumni Gold Invitational

This Week The Cougars will compete against NCAA men's and women's indoor champions LSU and against teams from Alabama, Arkansas State, Kentucky, Lamar, UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe, McNeese State, New Orleans, Rice, Southeast Louisiana, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Tulane.
Routt Makes Outdoor Debuts
Last Week Brandon Womack had a fifth-place finish in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.22 meters (23-8.25) going into a slight wind of 0.4 of a meter per second. Sesar Figueroa had the best collegiate time and finished third overall with a time of 1:54.28 in the men's 800-meter race. Maurillio Sanchez was the best collegiate runner and fourth-best overall in the steeplechase with a time of 9:37.32. Tristian Whitley also had a third-place finish in the men's high jump after clearing 2.05 meters (6-8). Andrew Carruthers had a wind-aided time of 14.23 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles to finish in fifth place, while Milton Manson had the eighth-fastest time with a wind-aided 14.34 seconds. Womack also finished in fifth place with a leap of 23-8.25 (7.22) while jumping into a wind. In the women's division, Houston had a second-place finish in the women's 4x100-meter relay with a season-best time of 45.29 seconds. LaDedra Guy had the eighth-fastest time in the 100 meters with 11.63 seconds. Crystal Freeman had her best performance of the season in the 800 meters when she finished in fourth place with a time of 2:15.12. Jennifer Hunt had a time of 2:19.12 to finish in 14th place. It was Hunt's first 800-meter race of the season. Terie Littlepage had a seventh-place time of 12:17.86 in the steeplechase, while Alicia Cave had a wind-aided time of 13.59 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles to finish in fourth place. In the women's triple jump, Caresir Hamilton finished in second place after posting her second-best effort of the season with 12.25 meters (40-2.25). Rachael Easley finished in eighth place with a wind-aided jump of 11.60 meters (38-00.75). Hamilton also finished 11th in the women's long jump with a leap of 18-10 (5.74m). Jessica Edwards equaled her season-best effort in the pole vault after clearing 3.45 meters (11-3.75) to finish in fifth place in the pole vault.
