Track and Field Prepares to Host Tellez Invitational

HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team will return home this weekend, as the Cougars host the Tom Tellez Invitational on April 18-19 on the Tom Tellez Track at the Carl Lewis International Complex.

The two-day meet will begin at 3 p.m., Friday, with a trio of field events including the men's and women's javelin, pole vault and shot put.

Competition will continue at 9 a.m., Saturday, beginning with the men's and women's hammer throw. The running events are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. on the second day with the 5,000-meter run.

This is the first of two home meets for the Cougars during the 2008 outdoor season. UH also will host the Houston Invitational on May 2-3.

Last weekend at the UTEP invitational, the Cougars set two regional qualifying marks. Junior Seun Adigun clocked a time of 13.66 in the 100-meter hurdles to lead the way for Houston. Her time is currently second fastest in Conference USA this year.

The women's 4X100-meter relay team also set a regional mark with a time of 45.55.
