Houston - Houston Plays Host To 2006 Houston Invitational The University of Houston men's and women's track and field teams will be the host school for the 2006 Houston Invitational outdoor track and field meet on May 5 and 6 at the Carl Lewis/Tom Tellez Track and Field Complex located on the UH campus.

The meet begins with men's and women's hammer throw, javelin throw and pole vault at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5. The remaining field events begin men's and women's shot put begins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6. The men and women's long jump competitions will start at noon, followed by the men's and women's high jump at 1:00 p.m. The final field events are the men's and women's triple jumps along with the men's and women's discus throws are scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

Houston will be competing against teams from Lamar, Northwestern State, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, McNeese State, Nichols State, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas-Pan American, Texas-San Antonio, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Trinity, Huston-Tillotson, There are also some competitors from Oklahoma State and Texas competing in selected field events.

A special ceremony to recognize Houston's graduating senior class will be held at 12:30 p.m. on the track. The running events begin with the men's and women's 4x100-meter relays at 1:00 p.m. .
